Cold rooms can be a hindrance for constructive work while sitting. The Thuringian state parliament reacted and sent blankets to the MPs – but “first for the women”.

“It’s already very cold here,” confirmed the President of the Thuringian state parliament, Birgit Pommer (left), to the shivering politicians present at the plenary session on September 22 in Erfurt. The reason was apparently the low temperatures in the room. So Pommer had blankets distributed and accompanied the interruption with the words:

“We now have a few blankets that are there. Maybe leave them for the women for now.”

After an interjection, Pommer added: “Do nothing good – nothing bad happens to you”. However, it was not explained to the deputies whether the hall heating was switched off completely or just throttled. The President of the Landtag finally stated:

“But next time we will definitely find a regulation for everyone that we can withstand the temperatures here, if you sit here for eight or nine hours.”
