Feijóo has Aznar if he arrives at Moncloa: "If it touches us, I will tell the president to give us a hand"

The President of the People’s Party, Alberto Nunez Feijoohas assured that if he arrives at Moncloa he would like to have Jose Maria Aznar. “If he touches us, I will tell President Aznar to lend us a hand,” he said, although he did not want to reveal how.

Leader popular He pronounced it during an act of the FAES foundation that took place this Friday and was attended by both, who held a debate on the European Union after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

However, the talk has not been limited to the international scene. The references to the situation in Spain have been constant and harmony has been built on two pillars: praising each other and criticizing the approaches of the current Government in matters such as the tax on the rich prepared by the Ministry of Finance in response to the elimination of personal income tax in some communities managed by the Popular Party.

Alberto Nunez Feijoo has described this tax as “distraction”. He has assured that “the problem of this Government is that it does not want to lower taxes on medium and low incomes” and has recalled that the former socialist president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero already carried out a similar measure during his mandate. “Lowering taxes in 2006 was on the left and doing it in 2022 seems to be on the far right,” he ironically commented.

The president of the PP began his speech by praising his own management as president of the ILL HEALTH and director of Post to offer an image of economic solvency and, later, he has gone on to sketch the theory that would guide his own economic commitment.

“The economy has to grow and, for that, it is necessary to capture talent, capital, investment and wealth”, he assured, saying that “the objective is not to collect less”, but “incentivize more”. “The objective of the Government should be to reduce the number of people with low wages, not decrease the number of people with high salaries“, has said.

And he has been very forceful with the current government, assuring that “we are moving in a spiral in which Spain would not endure”. “Spain can’t stand this economic policy for even five years. Such a decade is incompatible with the Euro”, he has opined, going on to say that the economic recipe is already written in mandates such as those of Mariano Rajoy and José María Aznar. That is when he has extended his hand to the former president.

This express harmony occurs after, this summer, Aznar offered himself to Feijóo for whatever he needed. In another similar act, he was asked if he would be willing to collaborate from within in a hypothetical Galician government, and his response was: “Whatever my country asks of me, I’m going to give it to them.”

Mutual support

Feijóo has attended the act of FAES after the invitation of José María Aznar. This is one of the strongest show of support that Aznar has done to the president of his party, since until now his public relations had consisted of little more than agreeing on acts.

“Thank you very much for attending Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who in a very short time will be President of the Government of Spain”, said Aznar. “We believe that you meet all the conditions to be the next president, that it is desirable that you be the next president, and we will do everything possible to make you the next president,” he added.

The act, which consisted of the closure of a FAES campus, was attended by some heavyweights from the Popular Party of yesterday and today. Among them, the mayor of Madrid, Jose Luis Martinez Almeidaand one of the closest to Feijóo at the current stage of the match, Elijah Bendodo. Characters such as the former mayor of Madrid have also attended Ana Bottle and the former minister, of various portfolios, popular Angel Acebes.
