Why did they put fences around the Casa Rosada?

This Thursday, the Pink House added an external fence to the bars that surround the headquarters of the Executive Power. This new security measure was produced as a preventive measure to safeguard the integrity of Alberto Fernandez due to the different mobilizations that are expected throughout the day and after the attack suffered by Vice President Cristina Kirchner.

Although most of the demonstrations do not have as their final destination the May Plaza, various massive mobilizations are expected throughout the day. From the early hours of the morning, the teachers of the Ademys union (Association of Middle and Higher Education), they cut the intersection of Corrientes and Callao avenues to hold a press conference as a protest against a measure adopted by the government of the City of Buenos Aires that requires educators to complete training on Saturdays.

Also in the morning, a large number of protesters from ecological organizations gathered in the vicinity of Congress, where the Chamber of Deputies celebrates a session for the treatment of a law to protect wetlands before the advance of the fire on the Paraná Delta.

Around noon, the Piquetero Unit headed by Edward Belliboni holds a plenary session at the Obelisk to vote on an action plan in which the possibility of camping for three days at the Ministry of Social Development is studied to continue with the claims of “genuine work, opening of social programs, pensions and the minimum wage at the cost of the basic basket and comprehensive and monthly assistance to popular kitchens.”

Also, The Single Union of Argentine Tire Workers (SUTNA) remains entrenched inside the fourth floor of the Ministry of Labor rejecting the 38% increase offered by business chambers. While different left-wing parties and social organizations maintain a court in front of the building located at 100 Callao and do not rule out transferring the claim to the Casa Rosada.

On the other hand, the Disability Collective, which set up a white tent in the Plaza de Mayo more than two weeks ago, called a rally at 3:00 p.m. in the vicinity of the Superintendence of Health Services (located at 530 Roque Sáenz Peña Avenue, one block from the Casa Rosada) with a mobilization towards the Obelisk and a new march of torches at 8:00 p.m. to the headquarters of the Executive Branch to demand payment of the wages owed to the therapeutic companions.

Before the attack against the vice president, the security measure used in the Casa Rosada was the deployment of a cordon of uniformed Federal Police on the internal perimeter of the bars. This Thursday, due to the number of demonstrations near the headquarters of the Executive Branch, the Government decided to reinforce the external fence to protect the integrity of the President.
