Over the years, the long television career of ‘The Simpsons’ has transcended its status as a series to become little less than a Palantir with which to see our most dire futures. The Matt Groening show has predicted international tragedies that have left the planet dismayed such as the censorship of Michelangelo’s David, Disney’s purchase of Fox, Donald Trump’s rise to power… and ‘The Island of Temptations’.
The island of promiscuous idiots
Now that the fifth season of the hottest reality show on television has landed on Telecinco with a 20.5% share and attracting 1.6 million viewers in its premiere —after all, it seems that there is life beyond the documentaries of La 2 and cultural counterprogramming—, Twitter has once again worked its magic and, thanks to JWulen, we have discovered this dire omen.

As you can see, the Fox production predicted this insular evolution of pre-existing formats such as ‘The Bachelor’ in episode number 19 of its fifteenth season, in which we are shown the yellow family watching ‘The Island of Promiscuous Idiots’; a show of dates and seductions in which beauty is far above the displays of “intelligence, character or ethnic spirit” and that, in reality… It is recorded on a peninsula! The horror.
If you want to follow the evolution of the five couples from ‘The Island of Temptations 5’ and see how long it takes for them to shatter horny in a jacuzzi duly captured on camera, you can do it at the weekly galas hosted by Sandra Barneda on Telecinco and in the debate on Mondays on Cuatro. Because who cares that Godard dies when he has a good helping of promiscuity and salsa at hand … right?
