A woman who had practiced the profession of doctor illegally applied for teaching studies with false references. A complaint was filed against him, indicated BFMTV, Thursday, September 22, 2022.
Samantha Avril is not at her first attempt. After pretending to be a doctor and having been arrested in September 2020 for having practiced the profession illegally, the woman tried to apply to the National Higher Institute of Teaching and Education (Inspé) in Mâcon for integrate teacher studiesas revealed BFM TVThursday, September 22.
Indeed, the University of Burgundy indicated that the woman had submitted her application file before they noticed “false documents and usurped diplomas“. According to the first information, she had decided to use an alias to enroll in the Master’steaching professions“. According to the Dijon prosecutor’s office, a complaint was filed by the University of Burgundy.
Samantha Avril had already practiced medicine illegally
Between May and September 2020, Samantha Avril had practiced as a doctor in Montceau-les-Mines, in Saône-et-Loire, thanks to false diplomas. After discovering the deception, she had been arrested and doubly indicted for “illegal practice of medicine, endangering the lives of others, unintentional injuries, forgery and use of forgery” also for “scam“. The families of two patients who died after consulting him had filed civil suits. The wife of one of the victims had notably denounced “hazardous prescriptions” from the false doctor, assuring that she had encouraged his patient to stop his daily treatment for his heart problems, before he died.
After being released under judicial supervision and with ban on practicing any medical activity at the end of January 2021, Samantha Avril had been taken into custody again on October 22, 2021. This time, she was accused of having violated her judicial control by applying on a doctor recruitment site. Finally, the woman was once again released under judicial supervision on December 24, 2021.
The false doctor would be a “psychiatric patient”.
Before trying to integrate teaching studies or to practice the profession of doctor illegally, Samantha Avril had already attracted attention by trying to register with the Order of Nurses with a fake nursing diploma. If Alain Guignard, the lawyer of the fake doctor, did not react to the complaint recently filed against him, he had alerted on the psychological profile of his client when she was returned to detention in October 2021.
After Samantha Avril’s judgment, he said: “I am scandalized (…) Two psychiatric expert reports concluded that his discernment was impaired“. Finally, the lawyer had explained that the fake doctor was a “psychiatric patient” who heard voices telling him to be a doctor. He finally confided:She had another panic attack and consulted a recruitment site. It’s not the prison he needs, but a more advanced psychiatric follow-up“. Indeed, after several hospitalizations and a psychological evaluation, Samantha Avril was declared schizophrenic. The report of the University of Burgundy could move things forward and allow the woman to have a real psychological follow-up.
