Netherlands after victory over Poland before group victory

Vienna – Thursday, September 22, 2022, 10:45 p.m

The Netherlands celebrate a comfortable 2-0 away win against Poland in the 5th round of the UEFA Nations League and take a huge step towards group victory in the A4 league.

The Netherlands starts well and is rewarded early for the high pressure. In a handsome one-touch combination game, Memphis Depay passes the ball to Denzel Dumfries, who plays in the sixteen goalscorer Cody Gakpo (13). Gakpo finally netted to make it 1-0.

In the second half, Poland have the best chance of equalizing. However, Arkadiusz Milik shoots over the goal from close range (53′). Steven Bergwijn made the decision in the 60th minute. After a one-two with Vincent Janssen, the Ajax player made it 2-0.

Belgium with a narrow away win

In the parallel game, Belgium kept alive the minimal chance of first place in Group A4 with a narrow 2-1 win over Wales. Kevin De Bruyne put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute with a long-range shot from 18 meters. Michy Batshuayi prepared the opening goal, which is well worth seeing, with a good dribble.

Both players are again responsible for the 2:0. Fenabache striker Batshuayi converts from close range after a dream pass from De Bruyne. After the change of sides, Wales only managed to get the first goal.

Kieffer Moore headed the visitors back in the 50th minute after a Brennan Johnson cross. But Belgium brings the narrow 2:1 lead over time and works out a decisive game.

Lots of excitement on the last day of the game

The two wins of the favorites result in an exciting table constellation. The Netherlands (13) lead by three points ahead of Belgium (10), but to win their group, the second in the FIFA world rankings would have to win against Oranje by three goals on the final day of the game. Because Louis von Gaal’s team won the first leg 4-1.

There is also a final at the end of the table. Here Poland (4) leads by three points ahead of Wales (1). But the fight for relegation is much more exciting. Should Wales win the game, they would secure their place in League A.

The last day of the game is on Sunday at 8:45 p.m. The group winner will take part in next year’s Final Four tournament for the Nations League title. The bottom of the table in group A4 has to go into league B.
