Named the regions of Russia with the highest and lowest average wages

The highest average salary in Russia was recorded in Chukotka – 139 thousand rubles. RT got acquainted with Rosstat data for June 2022.

The top five regions with the highest salaries also included the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YNAO) – 135.8 thousand, Kamchatka – 127.2 thousand, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO) – 123.7 thousand and Moscow – 123.7 thousand

The least received in Chechnya – 34.1 thousand, Ingushetia – 34.8 thousand, Karachay-Cherkessia – 39 thousand, Kabardino-Balkaria – 39.1 thousand and Ivanovo region – 39.4 thousand.

Compared with June last year, the average salary in Russia has grown by almost 8 thousand rubles (it was 58.7 thousand, now it is 66.6 thousand).

According to Georgy Ostapkovich, director of the Center for Market Research at the Institute for Statistical Research and Economics of Knowledge, NRU HSE, such results can be called “an absolutely traditional ratio.”

The expert noted that Chukotka almost always ranked first in terms of average wages among other regions of Russia.

“In principle, Yamal has also always been within the same limits. In the first place are always those regions that are engaged in the extraction of oil, gas, gold, diamonds, ”the specialist explained.

At the same time, as the economist emphasized, such regions as Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Dagestan, have always been at the bottom of the rating. This, in his opinion, is primarily due to the high unemployment rate.

Earlier, according to the survey, 83% of Russians admitted that they had difficulty finding a new job.
