Today I was introduced to the Australian rain shower.

The first half hour I was still able to keep dry on the bike. When I rode his moped behind the national coach on the World Cup course, the heavens opened completely.

The downpours did not last long, but were intense. In Wollongong there is clearly a microclimate. It was pouring rain on Mount Pleasant, while the sun shone at the finish.

Hopefully that will not be the case on Sunday. The course will be tough enough because of the winding course. Then if it rains again, we will have to sprint to stay well in front.

In the afternoon I called my best friend and I paid another visit to the osteopath. I prefer not to do the latter a day before the race, because letting your body crack and manipulate can sometimes cause bad legs. Something I definitely want to avoid on Sunday, of course.

Yves Lampaert also recommended the “Chantal” series to me. A West-Flemish fiction series that was recorded in the B&B of my friend’s parents. My former home port Stavele is featured in it, so I am very curious about the result.

See you tomorrow!
