According to media reports, Thomas Letsch will soon be presented as the new head coach of VfL Bochum.
After the separation from promotion coach Thomas Reis, the Bochum team is looking for a successor and is said to have zeroed in on the former head coach of Wiener Austria.
However, there is still a problem at the moment: Letsch is under contract with Vitesse Arnhem. The Dutch first division side are said to be doing everything they can to squeeze at least as much money as possible out of the possible change of head coach.
Bochum is said to be paying around 500,000 euros for Letsch. “I respect my contract. As long as there is no agreement, I’ll be Vitesse’s head coach,” Letsch told De Gelderlander on Wednesday.
“The Bundesliga is always attractive for a German coach”
In the same breath, however, the 54-year-old also admits that a return to Germany is very appealing to him: “From time to time there are opportunities and opportunities, then the circumstances change. But the Bundesliga is always attractive for a German coach.”
According to the “kicker”, Vitesse first wants to take care of Letsch’s successor before the coach is given the go-ahead.
Letsch held various positions at Red Bull Salzburg and FC Liefering for five years from 2012 to 2017. From February 2018 to March 2019 he also coached Vienna Austria and has been in charge of Arnheim since 2020.
