AMLO: earthquake was felt in Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco, Guerrero and CDMX;  no damage report

CDMX.- The president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador reported that they will continue pending and collecting information after the Magnitude 6.9 earthquake with an epicenter in Coalcomán, Michoacán, recorded early this Thursday morning and rocked Mexico City.

“We had a replica of the earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 with an epicenter in Coalcomán. It was felt in Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco, Guerrero and Mexico City. So far there is no report of damage,” said the president through his social networks.

In a video posted on Twitter, López Obrador mentioned that the head of the Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, has already come out to give information that there are no reports of damage in the capital, “she has just contacted me”

During the video, the President’s cell phone rang, then the Tabascan answered the call. According to the report, on the other end of the telephone line, Sheinbaum reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.9, also with an epicenter in Coalcomán, Michoacán.

“The earthquake again around 20 in the morning, an aftershock, information from Claudia has already come out that there is no damage,” said the President.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported that the tremor was recorded at 01:16:09 hours, had a magnitude of 6.9 and was located 84 kilometers south of Coalcomán, Michoacán.

In the conversation, López Obrador expressed that the report is that he felt strong, also in Michoacán and Colima.

The head of the Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, reported minutes before on her social networks that so far there is no damage in the capital after the magnitude 6.9 earthquake with an epicenter in Coalcomán, Michoacán, which occurred this morning.

He said that the Secretary of Citizen Security, Omar Garcia Harfuch, informed him that the condors that fly over the City have no record of damage.

The Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection Units of the Mayor’s Offices of Mexico City do not report damages, although the evaluation and tours continue, the head of the SGIRPC of Mexico City, Myriam Vilma Urzúa Venegas.

The Integrated Mobility Network of Mexico City reported no damage after the earthquake.

The Federal Electricity Commission initiated a protocol to review the electricity supply throughout the country, derived from the earthquake registered this morning.

The STC Metro informed that System personnel carry out a review protocol for the facilities in the event of a perceptible earthquake in the city.

The capital government launched protocols and established communication with the Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection Units of the 16 Municipalities.

Laura Velázquez Alzúa, national coordinator of Civil Protection, pointed out that the different regions of Michoacán are being monitored, after the earthquake that was noticeable throughout the state.
