Swiss press destroys Franco Foda

Zurich – Wednesday, September 21, 2022, 9:55 p.m

Franco Foda’s time as FC Zurich coach ended on Wednesday.

The former ÖFB team boss was hired in the summer to continue the successful work of Andre Breitenreiter, who had moved to Hoffenheim and who, after all, led Zurich to the sensational championship title in the previous season. But Foda never really arrived in Zurich.

Nothing reflects this better than a look at the table of the Swiss Super League, where FC Zurich is only penultimate after two draws and six defeats in eight games. In addition, the people of Zurich recently made a fool of themselves in the cup against second division team Lausanne.

It is therefore not surprising that the Swiss press does not take good care of Foda’s term in office.

The most important Swiss press comments at a glance:

“New Zurich Newspaper”: “But not a golden hand as a trainer: After eight games without a win, FC Zurich parted ways with Franco Foda – the champions FCZ reacted to the weak start to the season and fired the coach Foda. The club is leaving the old impression of sobering and turbulent years again. “

“View”: “Foda is even worse than the relegation coach Hyypiä. It has become apparent. Six defeats in a row and the embarrassing cup end at the Challenge league team from Lausanne as the crowning glory made the camel overflow. Franco Foda (56) has to take a seat on the sidelines at the Evacuate FC Zurich again. His record with Zurich is frightening.”

“Daily Gazette”: “But we’ve come to our senses. – With the dismissal of coach Franco Foda, the fallen champions FC Zurich ended a misunderstanding that caused him a lot of damage.”
