The Museum of the Northeast (Mune) was founded during the celebration of the International Forum of Cultures of Monterrey in 2007
Go all out with “mornings”cake and a series of events that included, this September 21, the inauguration of the exhibition “Urban Entities” and the Typographic intervention “Montemayor”the Northeast Museum (mune) celebrated its first 15 years of existence.
The cultural venue was inaugurated in 2007 within the framework of the Monterrey International Forum of Cultures, promoted by the former governor Jose Natividad Gonzalez Paras.
The director of 3Museums, Adriana Gallegosas well as the general director of the Saint Lucia International Festival, Lorenia Canavati von Borstel and the secretary of Culture of Nuevo Leon, Melissa Seguraled the celebration for the 15th anniversary of the foundation of the space that rescues the history and traditions of northeast mexican.
Gallegos gave a speech in which he highlighted that Mune is already part of the collective memory.
“I like to think that today, when we turn 15, that we are going to have more children, more visitors, more schools, more teachers who will be part of the community of the Northeast Museumthat the Northeast Museum is part of their lives”pointed out the director of Mune.
During the event, a group sang the traditional “mañanitas” and cake was distributed among the guests who attended the celebration event of the cultural venue, which is part of the 3Museos complex, along with the Mexican History Museum and the Government Palace Museum.
Before the celebration, the opening of the exhibition was also held. “Urban Entities” in which he took part CEDIM (Centro de Estudios Superiores de Diseño de Monterrey) and is an installation that was developed to promote collective sensory experiences and live urban design through a modular system with tubular elements and concrete bodies.
It was also recalled the founding of Monterrey through typographic intervention “Monte Mayor” which is based on the founding act of the city.
The graphic intervention was carried out inside and outside the Museum, in addition to being carried out in coordination with the CEDIM.

Esteban Fuentes Sánchez, from the career of Graphic Design and Strategic Marketing it was inspired by the history and the founding process, as well as the first failed attempts, the first colonies and their original settlers.
Canavati von Bostrel highlighted that this founding date of Mune and also the 15th anniversary of the Santa Lucía International Festival serve to endorse the commitment that culture and the arts are accessible to all.
