Gmunden moves into the second BCL qualification round

The Swans Gmunden caused a surprise with a win in the qualification for the Basketball Champions League (BCL).

Austria’s runner-up defeated the Estonian champion Pärnu Sadam in the first round on Wednesday with 82:80 (38:40).

Top scorer Urald King (23 points) ensured success with a last-second basket. The Estonians had eliminated BC Vienna last year.

At the tournament in Belgrade on Friday (5:00 p.m.) Danish champion Bakken Bears is the next opponent. Before the group phase, there would then be a third round for the Upper Austrians.

Meanwhile, Luka Brajkovic with CB Breogan was eliminated. The team from Lugo lost host FMP Belgrade 64:74 (34:32). In his first competitive game as a professional basketball player, the 23-year-old from Feldkirch scored three points and a rebound in 8:37 minutes on the floor.
