Eberl makes promises to ex-employers

Vienna – Wednesday, September 21, 2022, 7:41 a.m

Max Eberl will be the new sports director at RB Leipzig from December 15, but he will not poach for a squad reinforcement at all but one club.

After his health-related retirement as a Gladbach official at the beginning of the year, Eberl’s new job with the reigning DFB Cup winner was announced on Monday. Now the 48-year-old has apparently made a promise to his ex-employer Borussia Mönchengladbach, according to “Bild”.

This apparently means that the current table 12. of the German Bundesliga will not serve on the Niederreihner squad in the future. The first test of his promise will come in January when the winter transfer window opens.

Eberl is not the only ex-Gladbach functionary to hire the Saxon “bulls”. Marco Rose, who was on the sidelines with the “Fohlen” team from 2019 to 2021, is now at home on the sidelines in his hometown.
