Ukraine will not change its position against the backdrop of announcements of “referendums” in the territories occupied by Russia and the expectation of a possible mobilization in the Russian Federation. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening address.

Of course, today there is quite noisy news from Russia. Lots of questions about this. But what actually happened? What sounded from what did not sound before? Our positions are clear and well known. This is the only thing we should be interested in. Not what sounds somewhere, but what is our task.

More support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more support for intelligence, more support for the Special Operations Forces, more support for the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Guard, the police, border guards – for everyone who is gradually restoring our territorial integrity.

According to Zelensky, “the situation on the front line clearly indicates that the initiative belongs to Ukraine.” The Ukrainian authorities will not change their positions “because of the noise or” any announcements from somewhere, “he added.

We inform all subjects of international relations about what is happening. And we see understanding not only from our partners, but also from those states that tried to stay away from our struggle. There will be steps in support of Ukraine in such circumstances and from key international associations.

So we keep the pressure [на Россию]. We keep unity. We protect Ukraine. We free our land. And we show no weakness.

On September 20, in the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR, as well as in the occupied Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, they announced plans to hold “referendums on joining Russia.” They will be held September 23-27.

In addition, on September 20, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the second and third readings new amendments to the Criminal Code, which, in particular, supplement the Code with the concepts of “mobilization”, “martial law” and “wartime”.

According to unofficial data, Russian President Vladimir Putin planned to make an address on the evening of September 20 about “referendums”; it was also expected that he might declare martial law and mobilize. But, according to Forbes and Baza, the presentation of the appeal was postponed until the morning of September 21.
