Saga eternally associated with the very genre of point and click, Monkey Island had disappeared from radar since the somewhat different Tales of Monkey Island of Telltale Games. Terrible Toyboxthe studio headed by franchise designer Ron Gilbert, however, announced by surprise this year that it was going to revive it with a Return to Monkey Island bringing back several executives who participated at the beginning of the series.
This sixth canonical episode is out this week on PC and Nintendo Switch, and journalists were therefore able to deliver their tests online. And they were convinced, because Return to Monkey Island posts the very good average of 88/100 on Metacritic, thanks to exclusively positive ratings. Everybody salute this tribute to point and click retro, with always so much humor, modern puzzles and clever puzzles. This respect for the origins of the series coupled with a few new ideas, including the original artistic direction, makes it possible to offer a successful sequel in almost all respects.
