This Monday, the 19th, Westminster Abbey, in London, was the scene of a meeting of monarchs and Heads of State, who gathered for the last farewell to Elizabeth IIwho died on the 8th of September.

Among those present were the kings Philip VI and letizia of Spain, as well as the kings emeritus, Juan Carlos and Sofia. Although the two couples did not enter together, they sat side by side in the Abbey, so for the first time in more than two years it was possible to see the four kings of Spain together, something that had not happened since the funeral of the Infanta. Pilar, sister of Juan Carlos, who died in January 2020.

The king emeritus sat between his wife and daughter-in-law, while Felipe VI took his place next to Letizia. The four sat on the second bench on one side, behind Queen Margaret of Denmark and Crown Prince Frederick, Kings Carlo Gustav and Silvia of Sweden and Kings William and Maxima of the Netherlands.

It should be remembered that since the summer of 2020, Juan Carlos has lived in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, having returned to Spain only once, last May, to attend the regattas in Sanxenxo.
