The father of the main suspect in the femicide of Maria Alejandra Abbondanzawhose dismembered body was found on Saturday in Campana, pleaded not guilty and admitted that his son confessed to the crime. “I killed a person and burned him on the grill”said Agustin Leonel Chiminelli, 24 years old, according to his father, Carlos Rubén, 69, before the Prosecutor Ana Laura Brizuela, from the Zárate-Campana Functional Instruction Unit (UFI), who investigated him as co-author of the “qualified homicide” of Abbondanza.
The retiree assured that he had “nothing to do” with the femicide, as his wife and mother of the main accused, Liliana Sánchez, 64, had declared shortly before in his investigation. Sánchez stated that she found out what had happened when the police arrived at her house. However, it was her husband who referred to the dialogue he had at that time with their son, with whom they live.
A judicial spokesman warned that, according to the law, parents cannot testify against their children, so the young man’s statements do not count as a confession.
The defendant refused to testify before the prosecutor Brizuela, who ordered that he and his parents continue to be detained as “co-authors” of the crime, while the investigators gather elements to resolve the procedural situation of the three. In the house where the body was found, the Scientific Police raised 288 samples that will be analyzed to establish which ones are suitable for DNA comparisons.
The testimony of former couples
The investigation established that on September 10 a former partner of the young man now detained had filed a complaint against him in the Campana Family Court for violence, a fact for which he had been ordered to restrict his approach.
Meanwhile, in social networks, another ex-partner, named Milena, described Chiminelli son as a “psychopath”. “Several times I saw myself dead in your hands I always knew what you and your old people could do”wrote the young woman. Prosecutor Brizuela summoned both women to testify as witnesses.
The femicide was discovered last morning in a house located on Moreno and Alberdi, in Campana. Abbondanza had last been seen alive by her daughter on Friday afternoon, around 5:30 p.m., when she walked the dog.
A street camera recorded when Abbondanza voluntarily entered the house on the corner, where the Chiminelli reside. The cameras also recorded when the alleged killer left the house with the dog and garbage bags. In the bins on the block, the police found a bag similar to the ones inside the building with a bloody dumbbell, a sweatshirt and a towel.
