Cancer was following her. How the creator of the "Magnificent Age" Meral Okay lived and died

Meral Okay always reacted with irony to such attacks. “The series is not only about that century, but also about people, their feelings, relationships. I wanted to show real people. To designate the connection of that era and ours, so that the audience would be clearer, more interesting. If you show everything exactly according to history, who will watch? PhDs? Finding a compromise with historical consultants is the hardest part of working on a series. That is not possible, this is not possible. If I had listened to them, there would have been no love at all, ”the screenwriter noted.

Work on the “Magnificent Century” was hard. Script writing and filming required a lot of effort from the creators, so Meral Okay was busy around the clock. Just at the time when all the world’s media were already trumpeting the phenomenon of the series, the creator of the melodrama began to complain about health problems. After a full examination, the doctors made a disappointing diagnosis – lung cancer.

Time played against Okay: the disease progressed rapidly, and the doctors, despite all efforts, were powerless. When members of the film crew and journalists learned the terrible news, rumors began to scatter about the possible closure of the “Magnificent Century”. But Meral was categorically against this, believing that history should live on after her death.
