5.9 earthquake in Tecomán, Colima, shakes Mexico City today September 20

CDMX.- In the early hours of this Tuesday a new earthquake of magnitude 5.9 in Mexico Cityaccording to official information published by the National Seismological System (SSN). The tremor was also perceptible in the states of Colima and Jalisco.

According to preliminary information from the SSN, it was at 3:17 a.m. on September 20 when a new telluric movement was recorded, whose epicenter was located 72 kilometers south of TecomanColima

This is the second time in less than 12 hours that a tremor with epicenter in the south of Colima. The first was presented at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 19, after the macro drill commemorating the earthquake that occurred in 1985.

Monday’s tremor caused extensive structural damage in Colima and Mexico City, and also claimed the life of one person.
