Tepic, Nayarit.- be alerted to possible tsunami in the Nayarit beaches after the earthquakes registered in Michoacán, 7.4 with epicenter in Coalcománand the Colima of 5.3 with epicenter in Tecomán.
The Nayarit authorities warned the citizens of a possible tsunami after the earthquakes registered with an epicenter in the states of the lowlands, for which they asked locals and tourists to stay away from the beaches.
“Due to the 7.4 earthquake and historical tsunami data generated in Mexico, variations are expected. sea level anomalous of up to 82 cm above the tide level of the earthquake generation region”, explained the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
The alert was issued due to the records of said earthquakes, since prior to registering these anomalies, there is a tsunami in diverse beaches that are in the shoal of the Mexican republic.
“It is reported that at this time the red flag is placed throughout the coastal area of the State of Nayarit […] which indicates that access to the sea and the beach area is suspended”, they added.
