The founder of the human rights project Gulagu.net, Vladimir Osechkin, said that a few days ago they tried to kill him in the French city of Biarritz. About this he told in youtube show Yulia Latynina on the evening of 19 September.
According to Osechkin, the investigative journalist of the project saved his life Bellingcat Hristo Grozev, who transmitted information about the impending assassination attempt. “The message from him and from his source helped me and those involved in my security and protection to prevent my murder,” Osechkin said.
He claims that the assassination attempt was prepared by “a man closely associated with the FSB and organized crime” who came to Biarritz from Russia. According to Osechkin, having received the information, he and his family “evacuated” for two days to the mountains, and when they returned, they tried to kill him.
I carry the plates into the hall to set for the children, and with peripheral vision, on one of the terraces, I see how the red dot [движется] over the terrace railing and up the wall towards me. We went through special training, we prepared for this, we were trained, so that, if anything, we would not hesitate and not wait for them to riddle us. Of course, the lights went out right there, the children on the floor, he and his wife spent about an hour in one of the most secure rooms.
According to Osechkin, when the police arrived at the scene, they interrogated neighbors who heard pops. The founder of Gulagu.net believes that these were shots.
They didn’t hit me, there were shots, the sight went in my direction. [Помогли выжить] killer mistakes and lightning speed – [красную точку] I saw it with my peripheral vision.
In February, the Gulagu.net project stated that, according to the organization’s sources, people from the North Caucasus allegedly began to look for the perpetrator of the murder of Vladimir Osechkin, promising 100,000 euros for this.
In October 2021, Gulagu.net published several videos of rape and torture of prisoners in different regions of Russia. After that, the Investigative Committee opened several criminal cases, the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service Alexander Kalashnikov was fired, and the State Duma passed a law toughening punishment for torture.
