The coffin was on an artillery cart pulled by 142 sailors with linked arms. Bagpipes and trumpets sounded throughout the journey. Absolute silence fell over nearby Hyde Park as the queen’s coffin appeared through the streets of London.

After going through the Buckingham Palacethe coffin will reach the Wellington’s Arch in Hyde Park Corner. The coffin will then be placed in a hearse, to be taken to the windsor castle. The final service will be at St. George’s Chapel, Reuters reported. The ceremony will conclude with the removal of the crown, orb and scepter – symbols of the monarch’s power and government – from the coffin and their placement on the altar.

Later, in a private family service, Isabel’s coffin and that of her husband, the prince philipwho died last year at the age of 99, will be buried together in the memorial chapel of the king george vi. In that same place, his parents and his sister, the princess margaret.
