Liga MX Femenil: León comes from behind to tie with Tijuana at the border

Tijuana, Baja California.- The double advantage of the Xolas de Tijuana was not enough to liquidate Club León, who woke up at a good time to get an important point from the Caliente Stadium, on this day 12 of the 2022 Opening of the Liga MX Femenil.

The strong heat did not stop La Manada from leveling 2-2 at the border. The change of Lucero Cuevas worked for Adrián Martínez. With just five minutes of play, he did the personal to remove Victoria López and thus have space to put the shoe that Sielas Ruelas failed to stop at the near post.

Previously, the girls in red and black uniforms owned the ball. Renae Cuéllar and Angelina Hix’s attack looked impossible for the emerald defense. It was a matter of time to see something from the locals and the first mentioned was in charge of doing it with a goal jewel.

The scorer from Tijuana (Cuéllar) turned around to take a left footed shot that was out of the reach of María de los Ángeles Martínez. Moments later, a lack of communication between Liliana Sánchez and María Martínez allowed the American (Hix) to take the ball to define with an unguarded frame.

Tijuana did not dare to increase its partial advantage and consequently received both goals from León. In the last of the first half, Mariana Larroquette applied the same dose to the Xolas, shooting with a left foot on the outskirts of the area to beat Siena Ruelas’ flight and wait for the second half to sing the 2-2 score for Lucero Cuevas.

Those from Bajío got a point that keeps them in the fight for the league. For now, they will sleep outside the top eight with 15 points, instead the border ones were close to equaling America in points, which lost on that same day against Rayadas de Monterrey.
