Leipzig players warming up

The Leipzig hired on Monday Max Eber as sporting director after reaching an agreement with the league rival Borussia Monchengladbach to terminate your previous contract.

Leipzig said the 48-year-old Eberl will take over as sporting director on December 15 on a “long-term” contract. The club did not announce the length of the deal.

Eberl surprised gladbach when he abruptly left the club last January, ending a 23-year partnership. Eberl shed tears when he said that he was exhausted, at the end of his strength, and that he wanted to step back from football for his own health.

His contract remained valid until 2026, meaning Leipzig needed to negotiate to offer Eberl a new challenge.

“I am grateful for the time it took me to recover and I feel ready and energized to want to get back to work in football.

“I come to a club that has developed rapidly in recent years, is very ambitious and has a clear football philosophy,” Eberl was quoted as saying by Leipzig.

Leipzig is supported by the energy drink company Red Bullwho founded the club in 2009.

Eberl will meet former Gladbach manager, rose framewho was appointed on September 8 as the replacement for Domenico Tedesco fired after the team’s lackluster start to the season.

Leipzig ranks 12th in the ranking of the Bundesliga of 18 teams with only two wins in seven games.
