The hurricane fiona will cause floods sudden and expected to be life threatening in some parts of the Dominican Republic after making landfall near mouth of yumareported on Monday the United States National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Puerto Rico’s power grid remains fragile despite repairs after Hurricane Maria in September 2017, which caused the largest blackout in history.

The NHC issued other weather warnings that extend to the southeast of Bahamas. Also including the acklins, Island Crooked Island, Long Caythe Inaguas, Mayaguanaand the Ragged Islandsand to the southern coast of the Dominican Republic west of Cabo Caucedo to Barahona.
