English mourn their queen (Live)

The coffin with the mortal remains of Queen Elizabeth II arrived this Monday after 1:00 p.m. local time (12:00 GMT) in procession to the Wellington Arch, in the southeast corner of Hyde Park, in London, where it was transferred to a hearse which will take you to Windsor Castle.

On a gun carriage pulled with ropes by more than a hundred Royal Navy sailors, the sovereign’s coffin went through the streets of the center of the British capital in procession, followed on foot by King Charles III, Prince William of Wales and other members of the royal family.

More than 3,000 soldiers from various corps and regiments paraded in the funeral procession after the solemn state funeral held in Westminster Abbey before hundreds of world dignitaries.

It is expected that around 3:00 p.m. local time (2:00 p.m. GMT) the coffin of Elizabeth II, who died at the age of 96 after more than seven decades on the throne, will arrive in Windsor, about 35 kilometers west of London.

There he will travel in procession the nearly 5 kilometers of the Long Walk, the characteristic tree-lined avenue that leads to Windsor Castle, the royal residence where the queen used to spend the most time.

At 4:00 p.m. local time (3:00 p.m. GMT), a church service will be held for some 800 guests in the castle’s St. George’s Chapel, a regular venue for royal baptisms, weddings and funerals.

In recent years, it has hosted the wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan, as well as the funeral of Prince Philip, the queen’s husband.

At 7:30 p.m. local time (6:30 p.m. GMT), Elizabeth II will be buried next to her husband’s remains in the chapel’s crypt.
