After the confirmation of the Bamako Court of Appeal: Gouagnon Coulibaly soon invested president of the URD

No obstacle, neither legal nor even political, now hinders Gouagnon Coulibaly’s march towards the presidential chair of the Union for the Republic and Democracy, URD. The judgment confirming the election of M Coulibaly has just been rendered by the Court of Appeal and Salikou Sanogo has been notified to hand over to the legitimately elected President so that the latter can lead the party boat from the handle legal hands. This last legal gesture, far from closing the debate, is a precious victory for the Gouagnon camp, which will now be able to lead the URD while waiting for the next procedure, which is the appeal in cassation. The 3th President of the URD could he do better than his predecessors? What major projects await it?

While rumors had reported a challenge by two of three judges who would have made the decision in favor of Gouagnon Coulibaly, it is absolutely not. The proof is this judgment confirming the victory of M Coulibaly and which was approved by the President and his advisers. He essentially asks Salikou Sanogo to hand over power to Gouagnon Coulibaly at the head of the URD. Today no obstacle, whether legal or political, can prevent Gouagnon Coulibaly from installing himself in the chair of President of the URD. Incidentally, other remedies exist and the Salikou camp would not hesitate to use these remedies in order to reset the counter to zero. A press release signed by the secretary general of the URD and close to Salikou Sanogo, had circulated on social networks reporting an appeal in cassation which would be made upon notification of the court decision. This appeal would in no way prevent the execution of the judgment rendered by the Court of Appeal. According to our information, the new President of the URD will be invested in his new functions in the days to come.

The 3th President of the URD could he do better than his predecessors?

Its legitimacy is an asset and an effective weapon to pick up the tattered pieces. Gouagnon Coulibaly, since it is about him, would be elected with 95% of the structures of the URD and the major innovation during this extraordinary congress was the mobilization of the elected URD and the secretaries general of the sub sections, to give more legitimacy to Gouagnon Coulibaly. After this stage, the place is now at work to restore hope to the militants, executives and sympathizers of the URD who are distraught. In any case, strong in his legitimacy, M Coulibaly must not only do as much as the historic President Soumaïla Cissé, if not more than him, although the context is totally different. Gouagnon Coulibaly was elected in a context of crisis, as was to be expected after the death of the charismatic President Soumaïla Cissé. Without any triumphalism, the new President must rather put on the unifying mantle to follow the path traced by M Cissé. He already has the political means that he is now arming himself with strategies that can enable him to convince the hawks of the opposing camp to join the ranks.

What are the major projects awaiting the new President of the URD?

It is first and foremost the work of reconciling hearts and minds. Gouagnon Coulibaly should never tire of taking all steps that could enable him to bring back to the common residence of all URD militants, opponents of his presidency. He must use all his strength by involving the wise men of the party in order to achieve a large rally to hope to win the next electoral contests. United the party of the handshake has every chance of winning victories in the various elections whether municipal, regional, legislative and even presidential, but disunited all tendencies will lose. After the work of reconciliation, will come that of the animation of the party in order to inform, to sensitize and to mobilize the militants around the objectives of the URD. The last project would undoubtedly be that of reflection and above all of the development of strategies that could enable the party to make the most judicious political choices. A party that experienced the brutal death of its iconic leader would not soon recover from this beheading. So reconstruction work is needed to pick up the pieces.
