The PPD deputy, Raúl Soto, joined the message of unity expressed in the Ecumenical Tedeum, assuring that “we have a historic possibility of being able to build a better Chile, lay the institutional foundations for a Chile with greater social justice, but doing things right”.

These statements are given within the framework of the agreement that seeks to initiate a new constitutional process, after the triumph of Rejection in the plebiscite of September 4. Thus, in statements by the president of the Chamber of Deputies, “We cannot make mistakes in the decisions we make. in this second and last opportunity that we are giving ourselves as Chileans, and I believe that the call that the Church has made to us we have to accept with humility”.

In addition, Soto spoke about the role that the Executive should have in the conversations for the new process and pointed out that it should be carried out “with the Government inside but in a more prudent way.”

“The Government must understand that if we want to build a climate of dialogue and understanding between political sectors that think very differently, it is necessary to contribute to that climate, understand that the leading role is rooted in the National Congress, not in the Currency”he explained.

A similar position was expressed by his counterpart from Evópoli, Luciano Cruz-Coke, who indicated that “we hope that the Government will also join because, in practice, it is a co-legislator, so we hope that this ends up being a way of uniting the country ” .

“We have to see the best way to carry out a Constitution that unites us allalso learning from the process that has just ended, which will give us certain lessons of at least understanding that we have to not repeat old mistakes and give the country a Constitution that allows it to progress and that will hopefully last forty or fifty years,” Cruz-Coke added. .
