A team of supporters of opposition politician Alexei Navalny announced the launch of “Smart Voting” at the municipal elections in Moscow, which will be held on September 9-11. This is stated in the twitter of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK).
Oppositionists considerthat the municipal elections in Moscow are the main political campaign of 2022, and therefore we decided to focus on them.
“We believe this election has the best chance of hurting Putin and his warmonger party. And so we call on all Muscovites to unite for the sake of a protest vote, ”the Smart Voting website says.
Navalny’s supporters promise to recommend candidates for voting a few days before the start of the election. According to them, this year one of the key factors in choosing a candidate for recommendation will be his position on the war in Ukraine.
Recommendations will be sent using mobile applications, the website and the Smart Voting telegram bot.
In 2021, before the elections to the State Duma, Roskomnadzor began blocking Smart Voting in Russia and demanded that Apple, Google, Cloudflare and Cisco not allow the service to bypass the blocking. As a result, Apple and Google removed the Navalny app with the Smart Voting function from their stores. The Smart Voting bot was blocked in the Telegram messenger.
This year’s voting day will take place 11 September. Direct elections of governors will be held in 14 Russian regions. In another one – Adygea – the head of the republic will be elected through the Legislative Assembly. Elections to legislative assemblies should be held in six regions, to representative bodies of municipalities in the capitals of regions – in 12.
