The fight for the MotoGP world champion title between Fabio Quartararo and Aleix Espargaro has been about to end in the silverstone british circuit after the Spaniard suffered a very hard crash in the last free session.

The Aprilia rider, separated by 21 points from the lead, faced the curve 12 at about 165 km/h and his mount ejected him violentlyhitting the asphalt. Lying on the ground, he was unable to stand up and was evacuated from the tarmac on a stretcher.

Transferred to the medical center of the circuit, he was diagnosed with a bruise on the calcaneus of his right foot which did not prevent him from participating in the qualifying session, where he achieved a meritorious sixth position on the grid exit and the ovation of his box.

The Silverstone race seems essential for the interests of Aleix Espargaró, since Fabio Quartararo, who will start sixth, must comply with the long lap penalty imposed after the Assen race. This circumstance can be used by the Spaniard to beat him in the race and cut him as many points as possible.

Ahead of them is Maverick Vinales, willing to help his teammate. The Spanish stayed just 98 thousandths of the pole achieved by Johann Zarcothe second of the season.
