Court rules with a gender perspective and finds Martín Pradenas guilty of the crimes of rape and sexual abuse

For the completed crimes of sexual abuse and rape, Justice issued a verdict on the investigation against Martín Pradenas Dürr, who has been serving preventive detention at the Valdivia Prison Compliance Center since July 2020.

The Temuco Oral Criminal Court (TOP) found Pradenas Dürr guilty for the rape of the 20-year-old Antonia Barra and for the sexual abuse of a minor that occurred in November 2010.

According to the reading of the verdict, this Friday, August 26, the sentence against Martín Pradenas will be known.

The magistrate in charge of reading the ruling warned of the need to judge with a gender perspective in cases such as Pradenas. The judges indicated as a key element that they had heard the victim’s version “that transcended her physical existence”, in relation to audios sent by Antonia Barra to her friend Consuelo Uribe.

It is worth mentioning that on February 14, the first of 37 days of the trial began for Martín Pradenas Dürr, charged with 4 completed crimes of sexual abuse of a person over 14 years of age, one consummated crime of sexual abuse of a child under 14 years of age, and 2 crimes of rape of over 14 years, against six victims, between 2020 and 2019, and for which he risks up to 41 years in prison. A judicial process that has generated great interest on the part of citizens and that has at least 100 witnesses, and whose guidelines were established in a feasibility hearing, carried out on May 31.
