“The idea is that it is our vision of how to be or how a museum should be in the future. More than talking about the future, it is the museum as an institution or cultural space, how it will evolve”, explained Mariano Montaño, director of MUFO.
Until now the museum has been visited by 91,347 who were able to observe the design installations, LED sculptures, a gallery of NFTs (non-fungible tokens)as well as trying designer food and drinks, among other things.
The idea of creating the MUFO was born before the “lack of a space or venue that would bring these pieces together and present digital art and immersive artMontano commented.

In this sense, the first requirement for parts and installations that they wanted to be exhibited in the MUFO it was that they were experiential and that the visitor could have the possibility of experiencing some change in their senses; “in how you perceive color, space, light, in how you understand your senses”, specified the director.
Likewise, he indicated that technology “is not an end” in the MUFObut a tool for artists.
“Digital art, immersive art, while there is already a bit of it in the traditional art market, it takes a while for it to be recognized as art. But I think we are going to see more and more artists working with technology. How I would like it to be is just how we presented it on MUFOMontano said.

In Montaño’s opinion, things have changed a lot in Mexico in the last five or ten years in reference to art, especially in the capital, a city that he considered to be futuristic.
“There are more artistic themes, more music, more fashion, also jewelry design, and so on. There are more and more things and in that sense, I do think it is a futuristic city”, he commented.
While, MUFO has several installations that encapsulate or evoke nature with the purpose of inviting visitors to go out and discover it..
“We are a generation of artists that seeks to be able to remind the public that this incredible thing exists, and that in addition to seeing it indoors, we should go outside and enjoy nature while it lasts.”, explained the director of the museum.
The MUFO is located on Avenida Paseo de la Reforma in an architect’s building mario pani which used to be a hotel and now has not only facilities and a nft gallerybut also includes a store “not in use”.
In this store the visitor can buy both products and works, as well as gastronomic and mixology experiences.
“Next year we will return to present new and different things. We are also looking at doing it in cities in the United States, maintaining roaming, but based in Mexico City.”, concluded Montano.
