Minsal calls for care and prevention for this Children’s Day
















The authorities pointed out that there are more than 500,000 children between the ages of 3 and 11 who are lagging behind and emphasized the importance of the vaccine. In addition, they announced the presence of testing and vaccination mobiles in higher education establishments.

As part of the start of testing and vaccination in higher education establishments, the Ministry of Health made a call to celebrate responsibly and with the necessary care for this Sunday, which will be the Day of the Boy and the Girl.

According to the Health authorities, in terms of vaccination there are more than 500 thousand boys and girls from 3 to 11 years old. For this reason, from the Minsal they insist on commemorating next Sunday by applying the proper sanitary measures.

“We want them to celebrate, but make it safe. For that to be safe, we have to look for spaces in the open air, take care of our boys and girls”declared the Minister of Health, María Begoña Yarza. The authority made a call to carry out activities in places of lower risk, preferably celebrate the day in open spaces and without crowds. In addition, he reiterated the need to insist on the correct use of masks in minors, that is, that they cover the nose and mouth.

Regarding the daily report of Covid-19, they were notified 11 thousand 216 new cases of a total of 72 thousand 174 exams nationwide in the last 24 hours with a positivity of 15.4%. The head of Health pointed out that the Minsal is in an alert situation in view of the increase in positive cases, for which she said that the efforts are mainly aimed at reducing the vaccination gap in groups of people over 15 years of age and the group under 45 years old.

In this sense, Yarza maintained that the strategy of installing both vaccination and testing points has the purpose of approaching that group of the population that goes to schools, universities, institutes and also works. “Young people travel on buses, on the Metro, that is, a very active population from the point of view of its mobility. Therefore, this action not only benefits young people but also the rest of the family and the rest of the people”, he highlighted.

For her part, the Undersecretary of Higher Education, Verónica Figueroa, stated that being on the verge of a second university semester, the idea is to be able to have testing and vaccination mobiles in order to favor attendance in education, take care of the spaces in which students, teachers and education officials are inserted.

Regarding the increase in cases, the Undersecretary of Public Health, Cristóbal Cuadrado, indicated that this week the country had an average 13% increase in daily cases compared to last week. While regarding the presence of other viruses, the main increase is seen in the Respiratory Syncytial Virus with a presence of 26.3%, according to the positive samples analyzed by the ISP.
