Jumping team and (para) dressage team already want to qualify for Paris 2024 at the Equestrian World Championships

Olympic tickets are available in Herning for teams in the disciplines of dressage, para dressage and jumping. Wendy Laeremans, sporting director of the Belgian Equestrian Federation, is convinced that Belgium can qualify for Paris in the 3 parts.

The World Championships will start on Saturday with the Grand Prix dressage in two days. “With Larissa Pauluis (on First-Step Valentin) and Domien Michiels (on Intermezzo van het Meerdalhof), we have two combinations that have already gained the necessary experience at international level,” says Laeremans.

“The team will be complemented by two young top talents, Charlotte Defalque and Lore Vandeborne. If this mix of experience and top talent manages to reach its normal level and therefore does not make any serious mistakes, the team should be able to qualify for Paris 2024. A place in the top 6 is sufficient for this and is certainly one of the possibilities.”

For para dressage, a place in the top 7 is enough to reach the Paris Games. “Our very best paradressage riders will start with Michèle George, Manon Claeys, Barbara Minneci and Kevin Van Ham. I also expect this team to be able to qualify.”

Jérôme Guéry (on Quel Homme de Hus), Gregory Wathelet (on Nevados S), Nicola Philippaerts (on Katanga van het Dingeshof) and Jos Verlooy also have to finish in the top of the country competition to be able to go to Paris. The jumping competition starts next Wednesday.

“After the bronze at the Tokyo Games last year, I assume that they will qualify without any problems”, Laeremans concludes. “The qualifications per team in the three disciplines is the first goal for us for this World Cup. Everything that is brought home individually in medals has been very nicely taken.”
