ISU responded to Tutberidze’s proposal to freeze figure skaters’ ratings

The International Skating Union (ISU) responded to the proposal of coach Eteri Tutberidze to freeze the ratings of skaters.

“The ISU decision regarding world rankings and world standings is also permanent and will apply throughout the 2022/23 season, as well as the ISU statutes and general rules, as well as special regulations and technical rules,” an ISU spokesman was quoted as saying. RIA News.

The press service also stated that the suspension of Russian athletes is permanent, this decision is not a sanction or a disciplinary measure. According to representatives of the union, the decision was made solely in the interests of the safety and integrity of the competition.

Tutberidze on July 31 called it absurd to update the ratings in the absence of skaters from Russia.

On June 7, the ISU extended the suspension of Russian athletes from international tournaments.

Earlier, the IOC reacted to Tutberidze’s proposal to freeze the ratings of skaters.
