Hearing for man who killed his ex-partner and attempts suicide

The 42-year-old man, accused of murdering his ex-partner, Arelis Morales, 29, in Santiago de Veraguas on Wednesday, was given only the opening hearing to prevent the terms of the time from expiring to present the formulation of the crime task.

Prosecutor Moisés Tuñón said that the defendant was not present at the hearing of imputation and legalization of the arrest, because he is hospitalized in the Dr. Luis “Chicho” Fábrega hospital, with wounds caused by a knife to the right forearm and it is necessary to operate it.

On the day of the events, she arrived at the residence of her ex-partner claiming that she had come to look for her son. He is received by Arelis’s current partner, they argue and the now apprehended hits him and leaves him unconscious to later stab his victim and then attempts suicide.

The subject had three arrests from previous years, two for domestic violence (2014 and 2021) and one for alimony (2017). Arelis left two children in the orphanage.

They also ask the authorities to allow them to leave the children in their custody and thus at least mitigate the pain caused by the irreparable loss of this loved one.
