Dialogue paralyzed by differences and aggressions between indigenous people

Faced with this serious situation and lack of security, the traditional authorities, members of the National Coordinator of Indigenous Peoples of Panama (Coonapip)issued a statement where hold the Ministry of Government responsible foror this “totempted against a cacique”, and declare that they will not return to the dialogue tableor “as long as the safety and take legal actions exemplary against the aggressor and all the people who promoted this criminal act”.

The COONAPIP list of demands requires compliance with the following topics:

– Collective titling of territories; expulsion of invaders and settlers.
– Control of the felling of trees
– .Improvements in the health and educational systems, and others.
