Dafne Schippers (30) will not pack her suitcase for the European Athletics Championships in Munich (15-21 August). On Instagram, the Dutch sprinter announces that she is again struggling with a back injury.
Dafne Schippers ignored the World Cup in Eugene and focused entirely on the European Championship this summer, but that plan is therefore in the trash.
The Dutchman reports on Instagram that a new back injury has come to light in Italy, a problem that has been haunting her for a while. It is a vertebral fracture.
“The timing couldn’t have been worse as I was completely focused on the European Championship,” she writes.
Schippers is a former world champion in the sprint numbers and won Olympic silver in Rio in 2016. Tokyo became a disappointment.
