Aerolineas Argentinas maintains flights to Brazil and adds frequencies to Uruguay

Due to the good results of the winter season, Aerolineas Argentinas ratified the continuity of its flights to Brazil and added flights to Uruguay. It is that Brazil represents 22% of the foreign visitors that our country received so far in 2022: More than 350,000 tourists and 650,000 Brazilian hikers arrived in Argentina, exceeding one million visitors in total.

In this context, the owner of the flag carrier confirmed the continuity of operations from San Pablo to Bariloche, Córdoba – El Calafate and Salta-Tucumán, with two weekly flights for the route from Brazil to Salta, Córdoba and El Calafate, and a weekly flight from San Pablo to Bariloche.

He also stressed that as of August 16, A third daily frequency will be added with Uruguay on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, thus totaling 19 weekly frequencies between Buenos Aires and Montevideo.

The balance of the winter season

Domestic flights transported in the winter season to 881,369 passengers through Argentina, which means 101% compared to the pre-pandemic. The destinations with the best performance were Bariloche, Córdoba, Mendoza, Neuquén, Salta, Ushuaia, Iguazú, San Martin de Los Andes and El Calafate.with an important leading role of the “federal routes”, which correspond to provincial sections that do not pass through Buenos Aires.

In reference to the numbers, the president of the operator pointed out that “in the network of flights from Brazil that includes the routes from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Curitiba, Porto Alegre and Salvador de Bahía, 82,662 passengers traveled of which 60,000 were tourists who visited the country, thus reaching 95% of pre-covid passengers”.

Along the same lines and according to what was reported by the National Ministry of Tourism and Sports, more than 440 thousand tourists from abroad entered the country during the season, with expenses higher than USD 357 million in the tourism sector.
