A resident of Sakhalin, who has been seeking relocation from emergency housing for several years, during a meeting with the governor of the region, Valery Limarenko, threw a moldy shoe at the mayor of the Uglegorsk urban district, Dmitry Tsukanov. Video of the incident posted Sakhalin.info. According to Basethe woman who threw the shoe is Lyudmila Anikeeva.
The meeting of the residents of the district with Limarenko and Tsukanov took place in Shakhtersk on August 4th. When the turn came to Anikeeva, the woman said that the local authorities had been offering her family for three years to move from emergency housing to a building that was even older than the previous one and also recognized as emergency.
According to a local resident, in May 2022, the administration of Uglegorsk, by a court decision, was supposed to provide the Anikeeva family with new housing within two months, but this did not happen. In response, Limarenko turned to the prosecutor to “consider this issue personally.” Anikeeva objected that the prosecutor’s office had long been familiar with the case. She demanded that the issue be resolved “right now”, noting that there are “a lot” of families with such a situation in the region.
The people in the hall supported Anikeeva. At the same time, one of the residents noted that she has also been “knocking the thresholds (of instances)” since 2014. “You see, everyone here is against us!” she added, turning to the governor.
Anikeeva took out a moldy shoe to show the conditions in which her family lives. “Look what’s going on at my house,” said a resident of Uglegorsk and threw a shoe at Tsukanov, who was standing next to the governor. After that, the policeman took Anikeeva out of the hall.
According to Sakhalin.Info, the woman was taken to the police station, where they tried to interrogate her. “Brought it down,” she explained her actions and refused to testify, taking advantage of the 51st article of the Constitution. As a result, the police released Anikeeva, telling her to wait for a subpoena. What she was charged with is not reported.
Immediately after the meeting with the residents of Shakhtersk, the Governor of the Sakhalin Region wrote in his telegram channel that the situation in the city is “sad”, and at the meeting “there was a lot of criticism of the local authorities”. Limarenko also said that the authorities had taken “a number of constructive decisions”, the details of which he promised to reveal later.
In turn, the mayor of Uglegorsk Tsukanov declaredthat he “worked closely” with Limarenko and “heard a lot of sharp moments.” “It is unacceptable for people to wait years for a solution to their problems. Therefore, we are now setting priorities and starting to actively implement the instructions received, ”he wrote on social networks.
The situation is also commented Deputy Prime Minister – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev. He said he saw no reason to punish Anikeeva and promised to look into the situation.
“If our mayors have become so great that they cannot talk to people, and the only way to attract their attention for a person is to throw a shoe, then you just need to change the mayors,” the plenipotentiary added.
A few hours after the video of the abandoned shoe was noticed by social media users, journalists, and, seems to beTrutnev, Governor of the Sakhalin Region reportedwhich suggested that the prosecutor of the region check the actions of the administration of the Uglegorsk city district.
