Vacation in Greece: Tourist almost falls away from faith because of that – “rip off”
Other countries other manners? A couple had to in theirs Holiday in Greece learn the hard way.
For many, a trip abroad also means: time to treat yourself to something. Because who in the Holiday in Greece flies, usually does not want to do without anything. Apparently two tourists from Great Britain thought so too. But they should regret it bitterly.
Vacation in Greece: Travelers vent their anger online
The two travelers apparently experienced the horror on Mykonos – and that on the day of arrival. Actually, a tourist and her partner just wanted to relax on the beach. In the hotel “DK Oyster” they were informed on request that they only had to spend 25 euros per person to spend the day on the hotel’s own beach.
But as soon as they lay down, the hotel bar staff urged them to order, the vacationer wrote in her review on TripAdvisor. This was reported by The Sun. To please the waiter they ordered a water and a lemonade. But when the drinks arrived, there was the first disappointment: the soda was “undrinkable” and “so bitter”.
The next followed shortly thereafter. At first the cellars kept coming back and wanted to urge the vacationers to place further orders. Then they ordered a club sandwich for 25 euros, which is said to have tasted just “average”. And then there’s this: the two of them couldn’t even swim in the sea because there was a ban on swimming due to a sewage leak. The hotel guests were just annoyed!
Holidays in Greece: Hotel is apparently known for its overpriced prices
“Honestly the entire menu was overpriced and since they were so pushy we didn’t want to spend too much time there,” wrote the reviewer. The two vacationers therefore wanted to look for another place. Before that, however, they were asked to pay.
But when you look at the bill, the shock follows: the two holidaymakers should pay a total of 114 euros for a water, a soda and two sandwiches. The hotel bar charged 58 euros for the undrinkable lemonade alone.
“These people shouldn’t be able to sleep at night and steal people’s money,” is the harsh judgment of the vacationer on the “Tripadvisor” rating platform. But apparently vacationers aren’t the only victims of the hotel rip-off: The DK Oyster property only has a two-and-a-half star rating and over 1,460 reviews revealing similar stories. Some holidaymakers had to fork out up to 600 euros for a few snacks and drinks.

This did not go unnoticed by the regional tourism authority. After an inspection, the hotel operators have already received a fine of almost 30,000 euros for their overpriced prices, according to Greek media reports.
DK Oyster has not yet responded to a request for comment from The Sun. For those who are still planning a holiday in Greece this year, it is better to read the hotel reviews very carefully. (lime)
