A public health emergency has been declared in the United States due to the spread of monkeypox. This was stated by the head of the US Department of Health and Human Services, Harier Becerra, reports Axios.

“We are ready to take our response to this virus to the next level,” Becerra said.

How explains The New York Times, declaring monkeypox a public health emergency will allow for additional funding and more specialists to fight the disease.

Previously an emergency due to monkeypox introduced in the states of New York, California and Illinois.

Monkeypox has been actively spreading in Europe and America since May 2022. At the end of July it was recorded more than 16 thousand cases diseases in more than 70 countries. In the USA it was revealed over six thousand cases of monkeypox.

On July 23, the World Health Organization declared the monkeypox outbreak an international emergency, that is, “an extraordinary event that poses a risk to public health in other states as a result of the international spread of the disease.”
