Tieman Hubert Coulibaly reacts to the arrest warrant issued against him: “Malian justice has the latitude to proceed by means of a rogatory commission to which I undertake to respond quickly”

It was through a press release made public on Monday August 1, 2022 that the former Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Tieman Hubert Coulibaly, reacted to the international arrest warrant issued against him by the Supreme Court of mali. According to Tieman Hubert Coulibaly, persecuting politicians has never contributed to success, but has always led to failure “If Malian justice were to seek to locate my responsibility, within the framework of any judicial investigation, it has the latitude to proceed by means of a letter rogatory to which I undertake to respond promptly. I have already taken the initiative to set up a team of advisers who will accompany me in the desirable event of a confrontation,” underlined the former minister of defence.

In his press release, Tiéman Hubert Coulibaly said he learned surprisingly that an international arrest warrant was issued against him and other personalities, on the initiative of the Attorney General at the Supreme Court of Mali. “This singular and cavalier way is not the way that really befits, if the public prosecutor’s office near the high court is, ever so slightly, driven by justice…I would like to remind you that my mission as Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs began on January 8, 2015 and ended on September 3, 2016. It was perfectly defined within the framework of clear prerogatives. I have only ever acted within this framework and I have only acted to ensure the best operational preparation of our forces in the face of the security challenge,” he said. At a time when Mali is disoriented, threatened with disintegration, he says, the actors of the transition should rather seek a way to unite and bring people together. “For a year and more, I have constantly denounced their risky choices and made recommendations to them. Alas! Their only response remains the threat, the invective, the stigmatization and the insanities of a rare violence, poured out by their henchmen on the social networks. Can’t they see what’s going on? Do they not hear the calls for reason from our compatriots and our friends, partners in peace? Persecuting politicians has never contributed to success, but has always led to failure! However, my personal fate matters little in view of the dangers that threaten Mali and its people. Make no mistake about it! For me, nothing matters today except the Malians and their future. It is for this future which is called “Youth of Mali” that I will continue to fight so that tomorrow does not look like today. It is the only fight that is worthwhile and to all I address this call for a saving start. If the Malian justice were to seek to locate my responsibility, within the framework of any judicial investigation, it has the latitude to proceed by means of a letter rogatory to which I undertake to respond quickly. I have already taken the initiative to set up a team of advisers who will accompany me in the desirable event of a confrontation,” stressed Tieman Hubert Coulibaly, former Minister of the Government of Mali.

It should be recalled that on July 25, 2022, the Supreme Court of Mali issued an international arrest warrant against Boubou CISSE, Former Minister of Economy and Finance; Tiéman Hubert COULIBALY, Former Minister of National Defence; Mamadou DIARRA known as Igor, Former Minister of Economy and Finance; Babaly BAH, Ex-boss of the BMS (Malian Solidarity Bank).
