The Unitary Command of the Metropolitan Region launched this Thursday, the “Unity for Approval” campaign that will be deployed by each of the communes, to combat false news spread by those who do not want transformations in the country and prefer to continue under the institutionality of the current Constitution.
The leaders of Approve Dignidad, Socialismo Democrático and social organizations indicated that they are going to multiply the campaign for Approve in the face of the plebiscite on September 4.
“We are convinced that unitary work for the Approval is a fundamental condition for victory on September 4, the date on which the exit plebiscite will be reviewed,” they said in a statement.
They reaffirmed that this is “the best option that the people have to advance towards a new constitution for Chile. This text gathers the yearnings that citizens have supported for years to advance towards the profound transformations that our country needs to make Chile more egalitarian and with greater social justice”
The deputy for Social Convergence, Gael Yeomans, affirmed that “from this unity of the political parties for the Approval, we are also part of the unity of those who want the transformations of the country, of those who have a dream for a better tomorrow, of those who want justice social, all of that is in the new Constitution. With that hope we are taking to the streets those who are militants and also those who are independent by Approval, from the social world, from the political world. From this unit, this September 4 we will be able to say that we will have a new Constitution that will give a better tomorrow to our country. That is why with a future, with hope this September 4, the Approval will expire.”
Regarding President Boric’s call to seek common minimums, the legislator affirmed that the “political parties are talking and have become part of the call made by the President of the Republic to be able to generate a dialogue above all thinking that we want a new Constitution and that this also translates into definitive transformations”.
He indicated that the communities must assume that the new Constitution will require legislative commitments that materialize these changes, which are yearnings in health, in pension, in education.
Yeomans highlighted the importance of combating fake news on the text and informing people with strong work on the ground: “At least us, with the campaign we have carried out on the ground, we see that there is an opening”he highlighted.
He added that “those who are undecided want information, They are also attentive to the lies that have been spreading and there is a lot of interest in what is the true information. and what information is not. For that we have to be in the territory, it is not enough simply with a campaign in the air”.
The Unitary Command for Approval affirmed that the main change established by the new Constitution is that it leaves “behind the current subsidiary and neoliberal state, establishing a new Social and Democratic State of law that will guarantee fundamental rights such as the right to work, to education , health, social security, housing, among others”.
For this reason, they urged all parties and movements to join the campaign to win on September 4 and advance in the transformations that Chile demands.
