Mulheim. It is probably the most famous turbine in the world – and is now in Mulheim!

Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine also had devastating consequences in Germany. Due to Western sanctions and Russian counter-sanctions, there could be gas shortages in winter. Probably the most important gas pipeline between Germany and Russia is Nord Stream 1.

But it hasn’t been used properly for weeks due to maintenance work. Worse: Because of a turbine serviced in Canada that is now in Mulheim and has to go to Russia, only 20 percent of the gas would be delivered to Germany. that she in Mulheim is reason enough for Chancellor Olaf Scholz (64, SPD) to visit her – and the network laughs!

Mülheim: Netz laughs at the chancellor’s visit – “Good Ballermann hit”

Freshly serviced by Canada, the turbine is in Mülheim. There it is in a Siemens Energy warehouse. A kind of temporary storage. She is ready for further transport. But the Russians don’t seem to care. You just don’t pick them up! So Scholz now visited the camp with a clear message.

“It is clear and simple: the turbine is there and can be delivered.” According to the Federal Chancellor, nothing stands in the way of onward transport. It remains to be seen whether Gazprom will pick up the turbine. So there are “no technical reasons to reduce gas deliveries”.

This is the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr:

  • was first mentioned in 1093, in 1808 the city rights were granted
  • lies between Duisburg, Essen and Düsseldorf
  • has 170,632 inhabitants (as of December 2019), consists of nine districts in three districts
  • Sights: Styrum Castle, Saarn Monastery and the Bismarck Tower
  • Mayor is Marc Buchholz (CDU)

Mülheim: mockery and malice for Chancellor Scholz

The fact that a German chancellor goes to the trouble of inspecting a gas turbine and being photographed in front of it in order to convict Putin of lying also causes ridicule on the internet. Satirist Jan Böhmermann tweeted: “Can’t Olaf just send such photos to Wladimir privately via Whatsapp? Then I don’t have to be so ashamed.”

And here are more reactions:

  • “After the turbine in Mülheim, Olaf Scholz will visit a wind turbine rotor blade in Kiel and a stack of tires in Stuttgart tomorrow.”
  • “‘Olaf, look at the turbine’ could also be a good Ballermann hit…”
  • “What’s the last price Olaf? #Scholz#Turbine ‘Putin’s Bluff’”

It remains to be hoped and wished that the turbine will soon be in use.
