Fix! Schöpf signs with the MLS club

It’s fixed! Alessandro Schöpf will earn his money in the MLS in the future.

The Vancouver Whitecapes sign the ÖFB legionnaire. The Tyrolean signs with the Canadians until 2024, with an option until 2025.

Most recently, the 32-time ÖFB team player was active with Arminia Bielefeld in the German Bundesliga. Schöpf left the club for free after relegation from the top flight.

“Big step to go from Europe to North America”

“I’m very happy to be here. Coming from European football to North America is a big step for me,” says Schöpf. He hopes to bring much success to Canada. “I can hardly wait to appear in front of the fans at BC Place,” said the ex-Schalke player.

“We’ve had Alessandro on our radar for a long time,” says sporting director Axel Schuster. “He’s strong, covers a lot of space, has good passing and a lot of experience in some of the best competitions in world football.”

This makes the 28-year-old Tyrolean the third of the ÖFB kickers to earn their living in the MLS. Christian Fuchs (Charlotte FC) and Ercan Kara (Orlando City) are the other two Austrian exports overseas.
