Endesa sends an email to customers to ensure it does not change prices "until the end of the year"

Three days after the president of Endesa announced the possibility of electricity bill prices rising by 40%, the company is contacting customers via email to warn that, after all, there will be no changes in prices this year – a decision that had already been announced, this Monday, in a statement to the newsrooms.

In an email signed by Inês Roque Mateo, director of the Residential and Business Market in Portugal, and entitled “We keep energy prices until the end of the year”, customers are told that “the residential market will not increase electricity prices”. until the end of the year”. In addition, the company guarantees the customer that the conditions of the contract “will be maintained”, as indicated “at the time of contracting”.

In an email sent to newsrooms this Monday, the day after the interview with Nuno Ribeiro da Silva, Endesa pledges to “maintain contractual prices with its residential customers in Portugal until the end of the year” and that “will fulfill the commitments established in the Portuguese regulatory framework and in the Iberian mechanism”.

The statements made by the president of Endesa, in an interview with Jornal de Negócios and Antena 1 last Sunday, fell like a ‘bomb’ within the government, which hastened to classify them as “alarmists” (like the experts) and to guarantee that there will be no such price increases. In addition, the government also decided that the payments for the provision of energy supply by Endesa to the State administration services will have to be validated by the Secretary of State for the Environment and Energy, João Galamba.
