A taboo subject in the past, actors no longer hesitate to discuss their finances. Thus, Véronique Genest confided, in the columns of the magazine Ici Paris, on her monthly expenses.
For more than 20 years, Véronique Genest embodied Julie Lescaut. A role that allowed him to be in the spotlight… but also to land a hell of a lot. Indeed, facing Jordan de Luxe, she confided in 2019:
This is the jackpot of my life. It was on the order of many. It was running at least around 200,000 euros per episode. You know, numbers fluctuate with success. There was a moment we went up, we went up, we went up… Can you imagine, we were at eleven million viewers!
A salary that she received gradually. Indeed, she specified at the time not to have pocketed this stamp from the first episodes of the series, but gradually. Enough to allow him to put money aside.
“The actors’ pensions are minimal”
In an interview with the magazine Paris herethe last issue of which has been on sale since Wednesday, August 3, 2022the actress does not hesitate discuss their finances. Véronique Genest believes that it is “difficult for the actors”.
The actors’ pensions are not commensurate with the time they spend working. They are minimal. Unemployment is capped, not huge.
“I have to earn my living, I have to work”
But the actress refuses to complain. “I have assets and savings,” she continues, although she specifies that these savings will not be “eternal”. And for good reason, Véronique Genest admits having a lot of expenses. “I had to take care of my mother – the retirement home cost between 5,000 and 6,000 euros per month – as well as my husband’s ex-wife. I have to earn my living, I have to work. I need 10,000 euros per month. To hold on, to help those around me, ”she explains.
Thus, she has now turned to the theater. “Creation, festival, school, transmission: that’s what gives me the most satisfaction,” she admits. No question therefore for this hyperactive to retire immediately!
