Former financier now new Wacker boss?

Innsbruck – Wednesday, 08/03/2022, 10:25 a.m

In the midst of the financial crisis, Wacker Innsbruck probably has an old acquaintance as the new boss.

Apparently, the Russian investor Michail Ponomarev, who had secured the traditional club’s financial survival at least for a short time last year as a financier, is said to have taken over the Tyrolean state league, as the “Crown” reported.

According to this, Ponomarev is said to have bought all 1,500 available votes for a price of 108,000 euros (1,500 x 72 euros membership fee) from “BlockRock” in order to move into the core membership and thus secure decision-making power at the club.

However, much to the displeasure of the Wacker supporters, because they clearly opposed the takeover last Saturday in Kirchbichl with the banner “Core member out”. The membership association is also considering a general assembly to overturn the core membership.
